District Magistrate Chairs Farmers’ Day Meeting, Issues Key Directions for Swift Grievance Redressal

Gonda: District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan chaired a Farmers’ Day meeting at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium in Gonda, bringing together farmers and officials from multiple departments to address agricultural concerns and streamline solutions.

The meeting, held on the third Wednesday of the month, began with a welcome address by Deputy Director of Agriculture Prem Kumar Thakur, who initiated the proceedings with the District Magistrate’s permission. Officials from various departments briefed farmers on ongoing schemes and support measures.

The District Food and Marketing Officer provided detailed information on arrangements for wheat procurement, while the Executive Engineer (Minor Irrigation) highlighted departmental initiatives aimed at supporting farmers. Progress on 15 issues raised during the previous Farmers’ Day meeting was reviewed, and nine new grievances were presented by farmers in the current session. Most concerns were related to stray cattle and land consolidation (chakbandi) matters.

Taking a proactive approach, the District Magistrate directed officials from the electricity and forest departments to set up dedicated solution camps at the venue from 10:00 AM during future Farmers’ Day meetings. These camps will focus on the immediate resolution of issues related to power supply and forest-related concerns.

She emphasized that all departments must prioritize farmers’ grievances and ensure their timely resolution, underlining the administration’s commitment to strengthening farmer welfare and improving service delivery at the grassroots level.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including District Agriculture Officer Chandra Prakash Singh, Settlement Officer (Chakbandi), District Sugarcane Officer, District Horticulture Officer, Lead District Manager, and representatives of various departments. Several farmer representatives, including Shukla Prasad Shukla, Om Prakash Pandey, and others, actively participated and shared their concerns.
